UNIX commands.
Detail:
- Examples of usage:
- cd ~
- This will take you to your home directory (on most systems your
home directory is the one you are automatically put in when you log onto
your account). You can use this to change from a deep subdirectory to a
completely different directory (i.e., from a directory within another directory
to a totally different directory). For example, you could change from
News/alt/history directory to the public_html directory by typing:
- ux1>cd ~/public_html
- from your News/alt/history directory.
- cd
- This will also take you to your home directory.
- cd ..
- This will take you to the directory just above the one you are in. For
example, if you were in the News/alt/history subdirectory, typing:
- ux1>cd ..
- would put you in the News/alt subdirectory.
